18th of 42 at Augustana Interregional Invitational

Freshman Zoe Ward (Columbus/Worthington Christian) turned in a top-50 finish in leading Ohio Wesleyan at the Augustana Interregional Invitational, hosted by Augustana College on Saturday in Rock Island, Ill.

Chicago won the meet with a score of 48 points to 68 for Wartburg.  Washington (Mo.) was third with 129 points, followed by Colorado College (148), Calvin (165), Wisconsin-Eau Claire (218), Cal-Santa Cruz (228), DePauw (256), and Centre (289).  Wisconsin-Stout rounded out the top 10 teams with a score of 333, followed by Simpson (405), Wisconsin-Oshkosh (446), Trinity (Texas) (467), Illinois Wesleyan (468), Trine (494), Wisconsin-Whitewater (501), Millikin (536), Ohio Wesleyan (544), and Augustana (557).  Grinnell completed the top 20 teams with a total of 578, followed by Kalamazoo (585), Berry (590), Hope (631), Central (657), Wisconsin-Stevens Point (664), Otterbein (712), Wheaton (Ill.) (751), St. Mary's (Ind.) (760), and Wisconsin-Platteville (783).

Evelyn Battleson-Gunkel of Chicago won the race, covering the 6000-meter course in 21:24.7, just under 3 seconds ahead of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Carolyn Shult.

Ward finished 46th in 22:57.1.

Freshman Sophie Cotts (Granville) was 127th in 24:04.7, freshman Elsa Hoam (Fredericktown) finished 135th in 24:09.8, junior Eleanor Luttman (Farmington Hills, Mich./Farmington) placed 142nd in 24:13.3, and sophomore McKenna Downing (Pleasant Hill/Newton Local) completed the Ohio Wesleyan scoring with a 147th-place finish in 24:15.2.

Freshman Allison Dietz (Newark) was 173rd in 24:35.5 and freshman Aicha Tounkara (Delaware/Hayes) placed 195th in 24:53.1.
