3rd of 8 at NCAC championship
Freshman Zoe Ward (Columbus/Worthington Christian), freshman Elsa Hoam (Fredericktown), and freshman Sophie Cotts (Granville) won All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors for Ohio Wesleyan at the NCAC championship meet, hosted by Denison University on Saturday at Infirmary Mound Park in Granville.
Wittenberg had 4 of the top 6 individual finishers to outduel DePauw, which placed 5 runners in the top 11 but saw the Wittenberg Tigers prevail by a score of 36-39. Ohio Wesleyan was third with 88 points, followed by Oberlin (99), Wooster (129), Kenyon (156), Denison (195), and Hiram (255). The third-place finish was the best for Ohio Wesleyan since 2014, when the Bishops posted the second of 2 straight second-place showings.
Wittenberg's Sydney Khosla won the race, completing the 6000-meter course in 22:23.2, just over 3 seconds ahead of Tiger teammate Ella Webster.
Ward finished 10th in 22:57.4 to win second-team all-conference laurels, while Hoam and Cotts were third-team honorees with respective finishes of 16th place in 23:33.7 and 18th place in 23:50.8.
Sophomore McKenna Downing (Pleasant Hill/Newton Local) missed all-conference honors by less than 2 seconds, placing 22nd in 23:58.2, and freshman Allison Dietz (Newark) rounded out the Ohio Wesleyan scoring with a 24th-place finish in 24:03.4.
Junior Eleanor Luttman (Farmington Hills, Mich./Farmington) was 26th in 24:11.3 and freshman Aicha Tounkara (Delaware/Hayes) placed 27th in 24:15.8.
