Ohio Wesleyan University freshman Grace Ammon (Southborough, Mass./Algonquin Regional) and sophomore Olivia Danley (Del Rio, Texas/Independence (Va.)) received special awards as part of the All-North Coast Athletic Conference field hockey teams, it was announced today.
Ammon, a midfielder, was named NCAC Newcomer of the Year and was a first-team All-NCAC choice.
Danley, a midfielder, was named NCAC Midfielder of the Year and was a first-team All-NCAC pick.
Ammon and Danley were joined on the All-NCAC first team by sophomore midfielder Alyssa Markell (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County). Senior forward Allie Crawford (West Hartford, Conn./Hall) was a second-team All-NCAC selection, and sophomore defender Ellie Conroy (Worthington/Thomas Worthington) and sophomore forward Emma Wright (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) were third-team picks.
Ammon leads the NCAC in assists (9) and is tied for 16th in points (15).
Danley is tied for second in the conference in goals (14) and assists (7), shares the league lead in game-winning goals (5), and ranks second in points (35).
Markell, a defensive midfielder, and Conroy were key figures in a Bishop defense that allowed only 5 goals during the season and compiled a string of 14 consecutive shutouts.
Crawford is tied for fifth in the league in goals (9) and points (23), tied for fourth in assists (5), and tied for sixth in game-winning goals (3). Crawford was the NCAC Offensive Player of the Year and a first-team All-NCAC choice in 2022.
Wright is tied for fifth in the league in goals (9) and points (23) and tied for fourth in assists (5). Wright was a third-team All-NCAC selection in 2022.
Ohio Wesleyan finished the season with a 17-1 record. The Bishops ran the table during the regular season, finishing with a 16-0 record, won the NCAC championship with a 10-0 record -- Ohio Wesleyan's first NCAC title since 2019 and its first outright conference crown since 1995 -- and advanced to the championship game of the NCAC tournament.
