Freshman guard Graci Semptimphelter (Franklin, Tenn./Battle Ground Academy) scored 5 points and sophomore post Alyssa Griner (Delaware/Hayes) added 4 during a 16-0 run that put Ohio Wesleyan ahead to stay, and the Bishop defense set a school record in a North Coast Athletic Conference win over Oberlin on Wednesday at Branch Rickey Arena.

Camille Zinaich's layup right off the bat put Oberlin on the board in the opening minute and she followed up with a free throw to complete a 3-point play, and the Bishops trailed, 5-2, after a basket by Oberlin's Alyson Jefferson.

Griner hit a jumper and a lay-in and Semptimphelter sank a 3-pointer and a pair of free throws during the 16-0 Ohio Wesleyan run.  Junior guard Lauren Denison (Pataskala/Watkins Memorial) closed out the first-quarter scoring with a jumper, and the Bishops opened the second quarter with a 10-3 run, with Denison scoring 2 buckets during that run of play.

Oberlin fought back, going on a 5-point scoring run, but the Bishops once again ran away with it.  Griner was everywhere throughout the game, collecting rebound after rebound and sinking several layups to help the Bishops hold a double-figure lead over Oberlin from 1:59 of the first quarter through the rest of the game.

The Bishops allowed Oberlin 2 points during the final quarter of play, breaking the school record of 3 points allowed in a fourth quarter, set at Wittenberg on Feb. 12, 2021.

Griner led the Bishops with a career-high 21 points.  Denison finished with 16 points, Schipfer scored 12 points, and junior guard Elizabeth Homan (Cincinnati/Anderson) scored 10 with a team-best 7 assists.
