Freshman Mack Fincham (Springfield/Kenton Ridge) was in 10th place after the first day of the North Coast Athletic Conference heptathlon competition, hosted by Denison University on Saturday in Granville.
Fincham scored a total of 1928 points during the first day. Wabash's Jake Oostman was in first place with 2762 points.
Fincham opened the day with a time of :07.98 in the 60-meter dash, scoring 565 points. He then recorded a mark of 16-8½ in the long jump, good for 400 points, and posted a 27-4 in the shot put for 386 points. In the day's final event, Fincham cleared 5-8½ for 577 points and his top event of the day.
The NCAC heptathlon concludes on Sunday with the 60-meter hurdles, the pole vault, and the 1000-meter run.
