at NCAC multi-event

Freshman Mack Fincham (Springfield/Kenton Ridge) scored in the heptathlon at the North Coast Athletic Conference multi-event competition, hosted by Denison University on Saturday and Sunday in Granville.

Fincham placed eighth with a total of 3471 points.

Fincham opened Sunday's competition with a clocking of :09.17 in the 60-meter hurdles to pick up 709 points, his highest individual-event total of the weekend.  Fincham cleared 9-7¾ in the pole vault, good for 342 points, and wrapped up the weekend with a 3:18.75 in the 1000-meter run, adding 492 points to his total.

On Saturday, Fincham opened the day with a time of :07.98 in the 60-meter dash, scoring 565 points.  He then recorded a mark of 16-8½ in the long jump, good for 400 points, and posted a 27-4 in the shot put for 386 points.  In the day's final event, Fincham cleared 5-8½ for 577 points and his top event of the day.

The 1 point scored by Fincham will carry over to next week's NCAC championship meet.
