Freshman Hazel Jolliff (Cardington/Cardington-Lincoln) won All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors in the pentathlon to lead Ohio Wesleyan at the NCAC multi-event competition, hosted by Denison University on Sunday in Granville.
Jolliff placed third with a total of 2377 points. Junior Ava Klann (Dublin/Coffman) also scored in the event, finishing fifth, and junior Jocelyn Weaver also represented the Bishops, finishing ninth.
Jolliff began the day with a :10.64 in the 60-meter hurdles to score 597 points, then cleared 4-4 in the high jump for 429 more points before recording a throw of 25-6 in the shot put for 385 points. In the long jump, Jolliff finished third overall with a leap of 15-1½ and 456 points, and finished up with a 2:45.64 in the 800-meter run, good for 510 points.
Klann opened Sunday's competition with a clocking of :10.10 in the 60-meter hurdles, the second-best time of the day, to pick up 693 points. Klann cleared 4-2¾ in the high jump for 399 points, and turned in a 21-11½ in the shot put for 315 points and a 13-7¾ in the long jump for 345 points. In the final event, Klann ran the 800-meter run in 2:14.44 for 526 points.
Weaver recorded a :13.72 in the 60-meter hurdles for 177 points, then had the third-best performance in the high jump by clearing 4-5 for 460 points. Weaver followed that with the best mark in the shot put at 33-6½, adding 544 points. A leap of 14-4¼ in the long jump chalked up 371 points, and Weaver ran a 3:19.19 in the 800-meter run and 207 points in the day's final event.
The 10 points scored by the Bishops will carry over to next week's NCAC championship meet.
