Junior guard Lauren Denison (Pataskala/Watkins Memorial) sank a 3-pointer and junior guard Elizabeth Homan (Cincinnati/Anderson) and junior guard Kasey Schipfer (Mechanicsburg) added layups to help Ohio Wesleyan open the second quarter on a 9-0 run, and from there, the Bishops took off, closing out the first half with points from Homan, sophomore guard Kelsey Wolfe (Apple Creek/Waynedale), and freshman guard Mia Guscoff (Canton/Massillon Perry) on the way to a North Coast Athletic Conference tournament quarterfinal win over Kenyon on Tuesday at Branch Rickey Arena.

Ohio Wesleyan advances to the NCAC tournament semifinals to face second-seeded DePauw at 7 p.m. on Friday in Greencastle, Ind.  The other semifinal contest will pit top-seeded Wittenberg against fourth-seeded Oberlin at 5 p.m.

A pair of free throws by Grace Murphy right off the bat put Kenyon on the board in the opening minute.  A 3-point play followed quickly with Bela Krslovic notching the points that had the Bishops trailing 5-0 in the first 2 minutes.

Homan slipped in a lay-in to help get the Bishops on the board.  From there it was a back-and-forth battle between the home side and the Owls with Kenyon pulling out on top, 19-18, to end the first.

The Bishop defense held tight, allowing Kenyon to score only 8 points in the second and 7 in the third.  Kenyon fought to get back into the game, but a series of turnovers and fouls led the Bishops to go on another 11-2 scoring run.

A 3-pointer by sophomore guard Lauren Gerber (Worthington/Thomas Worthington) closed out the scoring for the Bishops while Kenyon gave one last point, getting a 3 of their own by Chiara Nevard.  Kenyon gave it their all in the last quarter, going 17-18 in scoring, but turnovers cost the Owls the game with the Bishops scoring 31 points off of turnovers.

Schipfer led the Bishops with 26 points and 11 rebounds.  Homan finished with 15 points with a team-best 7 assists.  Sophomore post Alyssa Griner (Delaware/Hayes) and Wolfe both scored 8 points to help the Bishops to victory.
