Sophomore midfielder Amara Carlson (Dublin/Coffman) and senior attacker Grace Egan (Ridgefield, Conn.) each scored twice during an early 6-0 run that gave Ohio Wesleyan the lead for good in a non-conference win over Otterbein on Saturday in Westerville.

The Cardinals took the lead on a Lauren Newkirk goal in the opening minute of play, then Newkirk set up Carli Rigel for a goal for a 2-0 Otterbein lead.

Carlson started off the Bishop run with a goal off a feed from junior attacker Nicole Klabus (Delaware/Hayes), then Egan rang up back-to-back goals to put Ohio Wesleyan ahead, 3-2, late in the first quarter.  Klabus, Carlson, and sophomore attacker Caroline Fleming (Pittsburgh, Pa./South Fayette) opened the second quarter with scores to stretch the lead to 6-2.

Otterbein stayed close, pulling within 9-8 as Newkirk had a goal and an assist during a 3-0 run midway through the third quarter, but the Bishops countered with a 3-0 run of their own, with Carlson connecting on an 8-meter shot before junior midfielder Sophia DelGallo (Braintree, Mass.) notched consecutive goals to open the fourth quarter.

Ohio Wesleyan pulled away with a 4-0 burst midway through the fourth period, with DelGallo starting the run with a goal and setting up junior attacker Sophia Staples-Roy (Hopkinton, N.H.) on another score, and Klabus and freshman midfielder Tiffany Trinh (Dublin/Scioto) converting 8-meter shots for a 17-11 Bishop lead.

Egan led the Bishops with 5 goals, while Klabus and DelGallo each finished with 3 goals and an assist.  Freshman Cadence Jobe (Pickerington/Central) made 14 saves in the Ohio Wesleyan goal.
