2nd of 7 at NCAC championship
Senior Peyton Howell (Canton/GlenOak), junior Liberty Brock (Zanesville/New Concord John Glenn), and freshman Coral Pierson (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) won North Coast Athletic Conference championships in leading Ohio Wesleyan during the second day of the NCAC championship meet, hosted by DePauw University on Saturday in Greencastle, Ind.
Wittenberg won the meet with 190 points to 103 for Ohio Wesleyan. DePauw finished third with 102½ points, followed by Oberlin (88½), Wooster (85), Denison (73), and Kenyon (56).
Howell won the high jump by clearing 5-4¼. It was the first NCAC crown and the third all-conference citation for Howell, who finished second in the high jump in 2022 and 2020.
Brock won the 400-meter dash in 1:00.08.
Pierson won the 60-meter hurdles in :09.20.
All-NCAC honors also went to junior Addystin Lykins (Carey), who placed third in the 200-meter dash and added a sixth-place finish in the 400-meter dash.
Brock, Pierson, and Lykins helped the 800-meter relay team win All-NCAC honors, teaming with sophomore Aliisa James (Miamisburg/Dayton Christian) for a third-place finish.
Brock and James helped the 1600-meter relay team earn all-conference recognition, combining with junior Siarra Hoover (Frazeysburg/Newark Licking Valley) and sophomore Katelyn Stapleton (Urbana/West Liberty Salem) for a third-place finish.
Other standouts for the Bishops included James, who finished fifth in the 200-meter dash and sixth in the 60-meter hurdles; sophomore Ashley Beatty (Delaware/Buckeye Valley), who placed sixth in the 800-meter run; senior Madison Manns (Kenton/Bellefontaine Logan), who finished seventh in the high jump; freshman Emma Hall (Ironton), who was seventh in the shot put; and freshman McKenna Downing (Pleasant Hill/Newton Local), who placed eighth in the mile run.
