Ohio Wesleyan 18, Baldwin Wallace 9

Junior attacker Nicole Klabus (Delaware/Hayes) scored 3 times as Ohio Wesleyan built an 8-3 first-quarter lead and went on to a non-conference win over Baldwin Wallace on Wednesday in Berea.

Senior attacker Grace Egan (Ridgefield, Conn.) and Baldwin Wallace's Lily Tope traded goals 30 seconds apart to open the evening's scoring before the Bishops went on a 4-0 run that included 2 goals by sophomore attacker Caroline Fleming (Pittsburgh, Pa./South Fayette) as well as scores by Egan and Klabus.

Deanna Loukas scored to bring the Yellow Jackets within 5-2, but the Bishops scored the next 3 goals of the game, with a pair of Klabus goals sandwiched around a score by junior attacker Sophia Staples-Roy (Hopkinton, N.H.), to extend the lead to 8-2 before BW's Sophia Leuma scored just :14 after a Klabus goal to make it an 8-3 game after the first quarter.

Ohio Wesleyan scored the first 4 goals of the second period, with freshman midfielder Tiffany Trinh (Dublin/Scioto), sophomore midfielder Amara Carlson (Dublin/Coffman), Klabus, and junior midfielder Sophia DelGallo (Braintree, Mass.) each finding the back of the net for a 12-3 Bishop lead.

The Yellow Jackets rallied with scores from Tope and Lexy Conway to close to within 12-5 at the break, and a 3-0 run in the third quarter brought BW within 13-8, but Egan scored back-to-back goals to close out the period, and the Bishops would outscore the Yellow Jackets, 3-1, during the final quarter.

Egan led the Bishops with 4 goals and 3 assists, while Klabus added 4 goals and 2 assists.  Freshman Cadence Jobe (Pickerington/Central) went the distance in the Ohio Wesleyan goal.
