Ohio Wesleyan 9, Asbury (Ky.) 8

Junior first baseman Dillon Ysseldyke (Hilliard/Bradley) lined a 2-run double to cap a 4-run seventh inning that lifted Ohio Wesleyan to a come-from-behind win at Asbury (Ky.) on Wednesday in Wilmore, Ky.

The Eagles had taken an 8-5 lead with 4 runs in the bottom of the sixth, with Noah Brown, Jackson Cole, and Kaden Dugle knocking in runs during the inning.

Ohio Wesleyan responded in the top of the seventh, loading the bases with one out on singles by junior outfielder Ryan Stefancin (Cleveland/North Ridgeville) and sophomore outfielder Sammy Stoner (Dublin/Jerome) and a walk to sophomore catcher Tyler Monaco (Centerville/South Mecklenburg (N.C.)).  Sophomore second baseman Ryan Duckworth (Hilliard/Bradley) lofted a fly ball to score Stefancin and freshman outfielder Colton Moone (South Vienna/Northeastern) walked to reload the bases. Senior outfielder Max Pershin (Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech College Prep) followed with a ball that Eagle second baseman Cole misplayed, allowing Stoner to score, and Ysseldyke followed with a double to right, scoring Moone and Monaco.

Sophomore righthander Joe Liss (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) retired the Eagles in order in the seventh, saw the hosts load the bases with 2 out in the eighth but got Colton Perkins to bounce into an inning-ending double play, and worked a 1-2-3 ninth inning to nail down the win.

Duckworth's 2-run double highlighted a 3-run first inning for the Bishops, and Ohio Wesleyan increased its lead to 4-0 on Stefancin's run-scoring single in the second.

Asbury came back to tie the game, with Brown's 2-run single the big hit during a 3-run second inning, and evening the score in the fourth.

Duckworth singled in a run for a 5-4 Bishop lead in the fifth.

Stoner was 3-for-5 with 2 runs scored, while freshman catcher Zane Vitense (Maple Grove, Minn.) went 2-for-2, Stefancin was 2-for-3, and Duckworth and Ysseldyke each went 2-for-4.  Liss was credited with the win, allowing 3 hits and an unearned run in 3.2 innings of relief.
