Ohio Wesleyan 21, Berea 10

Sophomore third baseman Noah Brazytis (Euclid/Cleveland St. Ignatius) tripled in a run to break a 4-4 tie and put Ohio Wesleyan ahead to stay, and sophomore outfielder Sammy Stoner (Dublin/Jerome) lined a 2-run double to highlight an 8-run sixth that broke the game open in a non-conference win over Berea on Thursday in Berea, Ky.

Freshman catcher Zane Vitense (Maple Grove, Minn.) singled in a run in the first and junior first baseman Dillon Ysseldyke (Hilliard/Bradley) launched a 3-run homer in the second to stake the Bishops to a 4-0 lead, but the Mountaineers countered with 4 runs in the bottom of the inning, collecting 4 hits and 2 walks.

In the top of the fourth, junior second baseman Blake Farley (Hudson) led off with a single, moved to second on a sacrifice, and scored on Brazytis' triple.  Junior outfielder Ryan Stefancin (Cleveland/North Ridgeville) followed with a single to score Brazytis.

The Bishops added 3 more runs in the fifth with the help of an RBI triple by sophomore second baseman Ryan Duckworth (Hilliard/Bradley) and a run-scoring single by Brazytis, but Berea closed to within 9-6 on a 2-run single by Nick McLaughlin in the bottom of the inning.

Ohio Wesleyan erupted for 8 runs in the sixth. With one out, Duckworth was hit by a pitch and walks to Farley and freshman outfielder Colton Moone (South Vienna/Northeastern) filled the sacks for Ysseldyke, who singled home Duckworth.  Walks to Brazytis and Stefancin forced in 2 runs, and a single by senior shortstop D.J. Neff (Grove City) plated another.  Stoner followed with a 2-run double to make it 15-6, and Vitense singled in a run before a Farley sacrifice fly finished off the scoring.

Moone doubled in 2 runs during the Bishops' 4-run eighth inning.

Vitense went 4-for-6 and drove in 2 runs, Stefancin was 3-for-4 with 3 RBI, Ysseldyke went 3-for-5 and knocked in 4 runs, and Farley was 2-for-3 and scored 4 times.

Freshman righthander Hank Holman (Twinsburg), the second of 4 Ohio Wesleyan pitchers, worked 3.0 innings of 2-hit relief and was credited with the win.
