Freshman attacker Will Siegenthaler (Elmhurst, Ill./York) had 2 goals and an assist during the fourth quarter to fuel an Ohio Wesleyan comeback, but the Bishops could not overcome a 5-0 game-opening run by John Carroll in a non-conference contest on Saturday at Selby Stadium.

JCU's Josh Lombardo scored :50 into the game to give the Blue Streaks the lead.  Colin Morrissey added 2 goals and Ian Venard and Max Cook added scores as the visitors built a 5-0 lead in the first 9 minutes of action.

Sophomore attacker Spencer Amacher (Blacksburg, Va./Blue Ridge School) put the Bishops on the scoreboard at the 4:58 mark of the first quarter, but the Blue Streaks answered with a score by Morgan Morrell for a 6-1 lead after the first quarter.

John Carroll got a score from Matt Berdsiak in the first minute of the second quarter, but the Ohio Wesleyan defense clamped down and held the visitors off the scoreboard for the rest of the half.  Sophomore midfielder Brady Hunt (Maineville/Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy) scored during the final seconds of the period to make it a 7-2 game at the intermission.

The teams traded goals twice during the third quarter, and Ohio Wesleyan rallied during the fourth quarter, with Siegenthaler scoring midway through the period, then setting up a score by Amacher with 5:36 remaining to bring the Bishops within 10-6, but Lombardo scored with just under 2 minutes remaining to give the Blue Streaks some breathing room.

Siegenthaler led the Bishops with 2 goals and an assist, while Amacher and Hunt scored 2 goals apiece.  Junior Paddy Colligan (Greenwich, Conn.) made 4 saves during the first half and sophomore Nathan George (Gainesville, Va./Battlefield) stopped 10 shots during the second half.
