Junior outfielder Edrick Padilla (Salinas, P.R./Perkiomen (Pa.) School) drilled a bases-clearing double and freshman catcher Zane Vitense (Maple Grove, Minn.) doubled home 2 more runs during an 8-run Ohio Wesleyan sixth inning that broke open a non-conference win over Capital on Tuesday in Columbus.

The Comets took a 4-1 lead in the second with the help of a 2-run double by Cade Anderson, but the Bishops came back with a solo homer by junior outfielder Ryan Stefancin (Cleveland/North Ridgeville) in the third and an RBI single by Padilla in the fourth.

Ohio Wesleyan took the lead for good with 3 runs in the fifth, with Vitense, sophomore second baseman Ryan Duckworth (Hilliard/Bradley), and junior first baseman Dillon Ysseldyke (Hilliard/Bradley) knocking in runs.

Sophomore third baseman Noah Brazytis (Euclid/Cleveland St. Ignatius) was hit by a pitch to lead off the Bishop sixth, and Stefancin forced Brazytis at second.  Senior shortstop D.J. Neff (Grove City) and sophomore outfielder Sammy Stoner (Dublin/Jerome) beat out infield singles to load the bases before Vitense lined a double to left center to score Stefancin and Neff.  Duckworth followed with a grounder that Comet shortstop Kielan LaMarr misplayed, scoring Stoner, and junior second baseman Blake Farley (Hudson) beat out a bunt single, reloading the bases.  Ysseldyke singled home Vitense before Padilla launched a double to center, clearing the bases, and Brazytis singled in Padilla to extend the Ohio Wesleyan lead to 14-4.

Capital rallied with another Anderson double during a 2-run sixth and a 2-run homer by C.J. Rockwell in the seventh, but Ohio Wesleyan added 4 runs in the eighth with the help of another 2-run double by Vitense and tacked on 2 more in the ninth.

Neff went 3-for-7 for Ohio Wesleyan, tying the Bishop single-game record for at bats.  Stoner went 4-for-6, Brazytis was 3-for-5, Padilla went 3-for-6 with 4 RBI, and Vitense was 2-for-5 with 5 RBI.  Freshman righthander Parker Tomlin (Atlanta, Ga./Westerville (Ohio) Central) pitched the first 5.0 innings, allowing 6 hits and 4 unearned runs, to record the win.
