Sophomore attacker Caroline Fleming (Pittsburgh, Pa./South Fayette) scored twice during an 8-0 run that put Ohio Wesleyan ahead to stay, and the Bishops went on to a non-conference win over Transylvania on Sunday in Lexington, Ky.
Freshman midfielder Tiffany Trinh (Dublin/Scioto) put the Bishops on the scoreboard early, but the Pioneers took the lead with goals by Sophia Sparks and Diana Bruder.
Fleming scored late in the first quarter to start the Bishop run, and goals from senior defender Genevieve Paulick (Kettering/Fairmont) and sophomore attacker Casey Conklin (Marcellus, N.Y.) in the closing minutes gave Ohio Wesleyan a 4-2 lead.
Fleming continued the run with a goal early in the second period, and junior attacker Nicole Klabus (Delaware/Hayes), Trinh, freshman midfielder Abbie Grogan (Louisville, Ky./Kentucky Country Day), and freshman midfielder Sam Frary (Concord, Calif./Clayton Valley Charter) extended the margin to 9-2.
Transylvania wrapped up the first half with an Abbey Peterson goal, and the Pioneers opened the third quarter with a 4-1 run that made it a 10-7 game.
Scores by Charlotte Green and Mandi Rider brought Transylvania within 11-9 late in the third quarter, but that 2-goal margin was as close as the Pioneers would come, as Fleming scored twice and senior attacker Grace Egan (Ridgefield, Conn.) added a goal to keep the Bishops in front.
Fleming led Ohio Wesleyan with 4 goals and 2 assists, while Klabus added 3 goals. Freshman Cadence Jobe (Pickerington/Central) recorded 7 saves.
