Box Score
Heidelberg 6, Ohio Wesleyan 2
Junior outfielder Edrick Padilla (Salinas, P.R./Perkiomen (Pa.) School) plated a run that gave Ohio Wesleyan an early lead, but Heidelberg rallied for a non-conference win over the Bishops on Wednesday in Tiffin.
The Bishops loaded the bases with nobody out in the first inning as junior outfielder Ryan Stefancin (Cleveland/North Ridgeville) singled, sophomore outfielder Sammy Stoner (Dublin/Jerome) was hit by a pitch, and senior shortstop D.J. Neff (Grove City) reached on a fielder's choice, with all hands safe on the play. Padilla was hit by a pitch to force home Stefancin and give the Bishops a 1-0 lead, but Student Prince starter Andrew Cook got out of the inning without any further damage.
Heidelberg tied the score on Cook's RBI single in the bottom of the inning, took the lead on Andrew Pokley's solo homer in the fourth, and added a pair of runs with the help of Camden Farley's run-scoring double in the fifth.
Ohio Wesleyan closed to within 5-2 in the sixth as junior first baseman Dillon Ysseldyke (Hilliard/Bradley) reached on an error by Heidelberg first baseman Farley, freshman catcher Alex Snyder (Massillon/Jackson) was hit by a pitch, sophomore third baseman Noah Brazytis (Euclid/Cleveland St. Ignatius) reached on an infield single to load the bases, and Ysseldyke scored on a fielder's choice by Stefancin.
Stefancin went 4-for-5 for Ohio Wesleyan. Freshman righthander Parker Tomlin (Atlanta, Ga./Westerville (Ohio) Central) was the starting and losing pitcher for the Bishops.
