The Ohio Wesleyan women's lacrosse team scored 10 goals in the first quarter to put Mount St. Joseph away early on Wednesday at Selby Stadium.
Junior midfielder Amara Carlson (Dublin/Coffman) kicked off the scoring tear within the first minute by firing her 12th goal of the year. Sophomore attacker Caroline Fleming (Pittsburgh, Pa./South Fayette) scored the next 2 goals, both assisted by junior attacker Nicole Klabus (Delaware/Hayes).
After 2 more goals by Klabus and junior attacker Sophia Staples-Roy (Hopkinton, N.H.), sophomore midfielder Lindsay Wolverton (Delaware/Hayes) scored her first goal of the year. Sophomore attacker Casey Conklin (Marcellus, N.Y.), junior attacker Anna Nacci (Wooster), senior midfielder Caroline Kiker (Shaker Heights), and junior midfielder Sophia DelGallo (Braintree, Mass.) all scored towards the end of the first period.
Conklin added 2 assists in the second quarter, and senior attacker Grace Egan (Ridgefield, Conn.) scored twice in the second half.
Thirteen different Bishops scored during the game. Klabus and Fleming both had hat tricks. Egan and Kiker finished with 2 goals each. Conklin, Klabus, and sophomore attacker Samantha Diaz (Los Angeles, Calif./Compton Early College) all had 3 assists. Freshman Cadence Jobe (Pickerington/Central), sophomore Abby Markowitz (Las Vegas, Nev./Somerset Academy), and sophomore Zoë Nelson (Frederick, Md./Urbana) split time in the Ohio Wesleyan goal.
