The Ohio Wesleyan men's lacrosse team outlasted Wooster 11-7 on Tuesday at Selby Stadium.  After handing the Fighting Scots their first loss of the season, the Battling Bishops are now alone atop the North Coast Athletic Conference standings.

The Bishops struck first when freshman attacker Will Siegenthaler (Elmhurst, Ill./York) scored an unassisted goal with 13:39 remaining in the first quarter.  Freshman midfielder Dennis Van Der Wal (San Anselmo, Calif./Redwood) followed up Siegenthaler's goal with a score of his own midway through the first.

After Wooster evened it up at 3 late in the second quarter, sophomore attacker Spencer Amacher (Blacksburg, Va./Blue Ridge School) fired and scored just 30 seconds later.  Senior midfielder Jared Friesen (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif./Trabuco Hills) grooved a shot into the net, a little over a minute after Amacher's strike.

Ohio Wesleyan's defensive unit was collectively locked in, allowing only 4 goals through the 3 quarters of play.  In the fourth quarter, the Bishops put the Scots away with 3 straight goals.  Sophomore midfielder Joey Wiseman (Powell/Olentangy Liberty), freshman defenseman Trey Weber (Castle Pines, Colo./Rock Canyon), and sophomore attacker Carson Geier (Milford) all scored within a span of 2 minutes to stretch the lead to 11-5.

Amacher and Wiseman contributed 2 goals apiece, while 7 other Bishops each had a goal.  Amacher also had 3 assists on the day, to go along with Siegenthaler's 2.  Sophomore goalie Nathan George (Gainesville, Va./Battlefield) chalked up the win, making 9 saves.

The Battling Bishops have a date with traditional archrival Denison on Saturday in Granville, with the opening face-off scheduled for 1 p.m.
