Sophomore rightfielder Alyssa Perkins (Fredericktown) ripped a single into right, driving in junior centerfielder Rylie Moore (Noblesville, Ind.) in the bottom of the seventh inning to cap off a comeback as Ohio Wesleyan won to salvage a split against North Coast Athletic Conference foe Wittenberg on Wednesday at Margaret Sagan Field.

In the opener, sophomore outfielder Sophia Holupka (Hillsboro, Mo.), had a clutch, pinch-hit 2-RBI single with the bases loaded to give the Bishops a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth, but the Tigers rallied in the top of the seventh, scoring 4 runs on 6 singles, in capturing a 4-3 win.

Junior southpaw Katie Chittum (Hebron/Lakewood) pitched all 7 innings in game 1, giving up 4 earned runs on 10 hits.  She also gave up one walk, and added 5 strikeouts.  Sophomore first baseman Sophie Leohner (Columbus/Upper Arlington) went 2-for-2 with a walk.  Moore added 2 hits in 4 at-bats.

In the nightcap, the Battling Bishops trailed, 5-1, after the top half of the fifth, thanks to a string of RBI singles by the Tigers.

After junior third baseman Alyssa Back (Newark) got on base, junior second baseman Sophia Cegledy (Pataskala/Bishop Hartley) smoked an RBI double that drove in Back.  Junior shortstop Rylee Anspach (Dublin/Coffman) immediately followed with a RBI single up the middle that scored Cegledy.  A few batters later, Perkins hit an RBI single of her own, which scored Anspach.

After tying it up at 6 in the sixth, the Bishops completed their impressive comeback to split today's slate.

Cegledy, Perkins, and Anspach each went 2-for-4.  Cegledy and Anspach finished with 1 RBI, while Perkins contributed 2 RBI.

Chittum pitched 4.2 innings in game 2, allowing 2 earned runs, 1 walk, and 2 strikeouts.  Sophomore righthander Kaelyn Rodriguez (South El Monte, Calif.) pitched the remaining 2.1, allowing only 3 hits and no earned runs.  Rodriguez was credited with the win, putting her at 3-1 on the season.
