Sophomore attacker Spencer Amacher (Blacksburg, Va./Blue Ridge School) scored twice as Ohio Wesleyan built a 4-1 lead, but 18th-ranked Denison scored the next 5 goals and went on to a North Coast Athletic Conference win over the Bishops on Saturday in Granville.
Freshman attacker Will Siegenthaler (Elmhurst, Ill./York) put the Bishops on the scoreboard early in the first quarter, but Denison's Grant Larson scored just 6 seconds later to knot the contest at 1.
Amacher followed with a goal less than a minute after that, and freshman attacker Xander Craven (Franklinville, N.C./Greensboro Day School) added a goal midway through the quarter for a 3-1 Ohio Wesleyan lead. Amacher then scored midway through the second period to increase the margin to 4-1.
Denison pulled within 4-3 at the intermission as Clyde Bresnahan and Quinn O'Donnell recorded scores, and the Big Red opened the second half with 3 straight goals, with Luke Fisher contributing a goal and an assist during that run.
Sophomore midfielder Brady Hunt (Maineville/Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy) scored off an Amacher feed late in the third to bring Ohio Wesleyan within 6-5, but the Big Red scored the final 5 goals of the game to close out the win.
Amacher led the Bishops with 2 goals and an assist. Sophomore Nathan George (Gainesville, Va./Battlefield) went the distance in the Ohio Welseyan crease, finishing with 10 saves.
