Box Score
DePauw 6, Ohio Wesleyan 5

Sophomore outfielder Sammy Stoner (Dublin/Jerome) scored to bring Ohio Wesleyan within 6-5 in the bottom of the ninth, but DePauw held off the Bishop comeback to escape with a non-conference win on Sunday at Littick Field.

Ohio Wesleyan took an early lead on an RBI ground out by junior catcher Tyler Monaco (Centerville/South Mecklenburg (N.C.)) in the second and made it 2-0 on the fourth when junior outfielder Edrick Padilla (Salinas, P.R./Perkiomen (Pa.) School) scored on the front end of a double steal.

DePauw got on the scoreboard in the fifth when Danny Sheehan led off with a double down the leftfield line, moved to third on an infield out, and scored on a balk by junior lefthander Dom Smith (Marysville).

The Tigers took the lead in the sixth, tying the game on a single by Kyle Boyer and taking the lead with a run-scoring single by Hunter Hrbek and a 2-run double by Aidan Howard.

Monaco plated another run with an infield out in the bottom of the sixth, and the Bishops closed to within 5-4 in the eighth as freshman catcher Zane Vitense (Maple Grove, Minn.) singled, moved to third on a double by Padilla, and scored on a wild pitch.

The visitors tallied a key insurance run in the top of the ninth when Howard led off with a single and continued to second on a fielding miscue by centerfielder Stoner.  After a walk to Danny Glimco, Cameron Macon lifted a fly ball to right, with Howard moving to third on the play, and Carter Knoll followed with a fly ball to center to score Howard.

With 2 down in the bottom of the ninth, Stoner drew a walk and senior shortstop D.J. Neff (Grove City) looped a single to right to put the tying run on base.  After a walk to junior first baseman Dillon Ysseldyke (Hilliard/Bradley) filled the sacks, Stoner scored on a wild pitch to bring the Bishops within 6-5.  With first base open, Vitense was walked intentionally.  Padilla ripped a ball down the first-base line that DePauw first baseman Knoll knocked down and recovered to make the throw to first for the game-ending out.

Stoner and Vitense each went 2-for-4, while Padilla was 2-for-5.  Sophomore righthander Joe Tepper (Centerburg), the fourth of 7 Ohio Wesleyan pitchers, was charged with the loss.
