Senior attacker Grace Egan (Ridgefield, Conn.) scored 3 times during a game-opening 8-0 run that started Ohio Wesleyan on its way to a North Coast Athletic Conference win over Wittenberg on Wednesday at Selby Stadium.

Senior midfielder Caroline Kiker (Shaker Heights) put the Bishops on the scoreboard just over a minute into the game, and Egan followed with a pair of scores for a 3-0 Ohio Wesleyan lead.  After freshman midfielder Tiffany Trinh (Dublin/Scioto) converted a free-position shot, it was Egan again at the 5:52 mark of the opening quarter.  Goals by freshman midfielder Sam Frary (Concord, Calif./Clayton Valley Charter) and junior attacker Sophia Staples-Roy (Hopkinton, N.H.) gave the Bishops a 7-0 lead after the first period, and junior attacker Nicole Klabus (Delaware/Hayes) opened the second quarter with a goal to make it 8-0.

Wittenberg rallied with a 3-goal burst midway through the second quarter, with Kelly Mamula scoring first and Grece Hehman adding a pair of goals just 15 seconds apart to bring the visitors within 8-3.

Trinh and Frary answered with goals during the closing minutes of the first half, and the Bishop defense took over from there, allowing the Tigers only 2 shots and forcing 16 turnovers during the second half.

Egan led the Bishops with 6 goals, while Frary had 3 goals and an assist and Trinh contributed 2 goals and an assist.  Sophomore Abby Markowitz (Las Vegas, Nev./Somerset Academy) made 4 saves during the first 3 quarters and freshman Cadence Jobe blanked the Tigers during the fourth quarter.
