Ohio Wesleyan 8, Kenyon 2
Ohio Wesleyan 5, Kenyon 3

Junior second baseman Sophia Cegledy (Pataskala/Bishop Hartley) lined a 2-run single and sophomore first baseman Sophie Leohner (Columbus/Upper Arlington) smashed a 3-run homer during a 7-run fifth inning that lifted Ohio Wesleyan over Kenyon in the opener of a North Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader on Saturday at Margaret Sagan Field.

In the nightcap, junior shortstop Rylee Anspach (Dublin/Coffman), junior centerfielder Rylie Moore (Noblesville, Ind.), and sophomore outfielder Alyssa Perkins (Fredericktown) plated runs during a 3-run third that put the Bishops ahead to stay as Ohio Wesleyan completed the sweep.

The Ohio Wesleyan sweep, combined with Hiram's sweep of Wooster on Saturday, clinches spots in the NCAC tournament for both Ohio Wesleyan (9-5) and Hiram (8-6).  The NCAC tournament berth is the first for Ohio Wesleyan since the 2016 season.  First-place DePauw (10-2) and second-place Denison (9-3) are scheduled to play a doubleheader on Friday, May 5, with the conference championship and the right to host the NCAC tournament at stake.

Perkins singled in a run in the second inning of Saturday's opener, but Kenyon's Maeve McLaughlin launched a 2-run homer in the top of the third to give the Owls the lead.

Ohio Wesleyan rallied in the fifth.  Sophomore outfielder Sophia Holupka (Hillsboro, Mo.) was hit by a pitch to open the inning and junior third baseman Alyssa Back (Newark) reached on an infield single before a double steal moved the runners to second and third.  Cegledy followed with a single to score both runners, and after Anspach and Moore were hit by pitches to fill the sacks, Perkins singled home Cegledy, with Anspach scoring on a throwing error by Owl centerfielder Allison McCutchen.  Leohner followed with a drive over the leftfield wall to make it an 8-2 game.

Back, Perkins, and Leohner each went 2-for-3 for the Bishops.  Sophomore righthander Kaelyn Rodriguez (South El Monte, Calif.) was the winning pitcher in relief, blanking the Owls on 1 hit over the final 3.0 innings.

The nightcap saw the Owls take a 2-0 lead in the third on an RBI single by Jesse Leener and a run-scoring double from Natalya Delsante.

The Bishops answered with 3 runs in the bottom of the inning, with Anspach drawing a bases-loaded walk and Moore plating a run with a fielder's choice before a sacrifice fly by Perkins.  Anspach scored an unearned run in the fifth and Cegledy singled home a run in the sixth for Ohio Wesleyan.

Rodriguez pitched the complete game, scattering 9 hits and allowing 2 earned runs.
