Freshman Hazel Jolliff (Cardington/Cardington-Lincoln), junior Ireland Nowak (Thousand Oaks, Calif.), and junior Jocelyn Weaver (Hudson) represented Ohio Wesleyan during the first day of North Coast Athletic Conference heptathlon competition, hosted by Oberlin College on Saturday in Oberlin.
Jolliff was in fourth place with 2077 points, Nowak was in fifth place with 1934 points, and Weaver was in seventh place with 1760 points.
Jolliff opened Saturday with the meet's best performance in the 100-meter hurdles, clocking a :16.97 and racking up 600 points. Jolliff had the fourth-best time in the 200-meter dash, finishing in :28.52 and scoring 590 points, and had the fourth-best mark in the shot put with a throw of 29-8¾, good for 468 points.
Nowak was third overall in the high jump, clearing 4-9½ for 577 points. Nowak's highest point total came in the 200-meter dash, with a time of 28:59 good for 585 points.
Weaver had the second-best throw in the shot put with a mark of 31-6, collecting 503 points. Weaver's highest point total came in the 200-meter dash, with a time of :29.51 receiving 517 points.
The NCAC heptathlon concludes on Sunday with the long jump, the javelin, and the 800-meter run.
