Box Score
Mount Union 11, Ohio Wesleyan 9

Junior attacker Sophia Staples-Roy (Hopkinton, N.H.) scored 3 goals during a fourth-quarter rally, but Mount Union held off the threat for a non-conference win over Ohio Wesleyan on Monday in Alliance.

Staples-Roy scored off a feed from junior attacker Nicole Klabus (Delaware/Hayes) to make it 9-7 midway through the fourth quarter, but Mount Union answered with scores from Katie Clark and Madi Karr.

Staples-Roy then connected on goals just 19 seconds apart to bring the Bishops within 11-9, but that was as close as Ohio Wesleyan would come.

Sophomore attacker Caroline Fleming (Pittsburgh, Pa./South Fayette) buried an 8-meter shot to open the day's scoring, but the Purple Raiders scored the next 5 goals, with Clark scoring 2 and assisting 2 others during that run.

Fleming and senior attacker Grace Egan (Ridgefield, Conn.) tallied second-quarter goals, but those were offset by goals from Mackenzie Kolstad and Eden Kesler for Mount Union.

Freshman midfielder Abbie Grogan (Louisville, Ky./Kentucky Country Day) rang up back-to-back goals during the third period, and when junior midfielder Amara Carlson (Dublin/Coffman) scored with 3:27 left in the third, Ohio Wesleyan was within 9-6.

Staples-Roy led the Bishops with 3 goals, while Grogan and Fleming finished with 2 apiece.  Sophomore Abby Markowitz (Las Vegas, Nev./Somerset Academy) recorded 14 saves for Ohio Wesleyan.
