Freshman Hazel Jolliff (Cardington/Cardington-Lincoln) won All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors in the heptathlon during the NCAC multi-event meet, hosted by Oberlin College on Saturday and Sunday in Oberlin.
Jolliff placed third with a total of 3583 points. Junior Ireland Nowak (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) placed seventh with 3048 points and junior Jocelyn Weaver (Hudson) was eighth with 2883 points.
Jolliff had the meet's best throw in the javelin, recording a 99-5 to pick up 482 points. Jolliff's highest point total of the day came in the 800-meter run, with a time of 2:43.48 good for 534 points, and a third-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 15-6¾ added 490 points. On Saturday, Jolliff opened the day with the meet's best performance in the 100-meter hurdles, clocking a :16.97 and racking up 600 points. Jolliff had the fourth-best time in the 200-meter dash, finishing in :28.52 and scoring 590 points, and had the fourth-best mark in the shot put with a throw of 29-8¾, good for 468 points.
Nowak chalked up 581 points with a time of 2:39.91 in the 800-meter run on Sunday. On Saturday, Nowak was third overall in the high jump, clearing 4-9½ for 577 points. Nowak's highest point total of the day came in the 200-meter dash, with a time of 28:59 good for 585 points.
Weaver collected 439 points with a throw of 91-11 in the javelin on Sunday. On Saturday, Weaver had the second-best throw in the shot put with a mark of 31-6, collecting 503 points. Weaver's highest point total of the day came in the 200-meter dash, with a time of :29.51 receiving 517 points.
With the third-, seventh-, and eighth-place finishes, Ohio Wesleyan collects 9 points that will carry over to the NCAC championship meet, scheduled for Friday and Saturday at the George Gauthier Track and Selby Stadium.
