A 6-0 run in the first quarter put away Adrian early, as Ohio Wesleyan cruised to a 15-5 win over the Bulldogs during a game-long downpour on Wednesday at Selby Stadium.
After a quick goal by Adrian's Jake Coakley within the first 30 seconds of play, the Bishops responded swiftly. Sophomore attacker Carson Geier (Milford) fired and scored to tie it up at one. The tie was broken when junior midfielder Cooper Braet (Columbus/Upper Arlington) scored with 11:57 remaining in the first quarter.
Sophomore attacker Garrett Smith (Fishers, Ind/Hamilton Southeastern) and sophomore midfielder Joey Wiseman (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) each picked up 2 assists in the first.
The Bishops continued their dominance in the second quarter, extending their lead to 11-1. Geier collected his third goal of the game. Sophomore midfielder Brady Hunt (Maineville/Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy) and sophomore midfielder Malik Sillah (Bethesda, Md./Montgomery) aided in the Bishops' effort, scoring within one minute of each other.
Freshman defenseman Trey Weber (Castle Pines, Colo./Rock Canyon) earned his first goal of the season with 7:55 remaining in the first half.
Sophomore attacker Spencer Amacher (Blacksburg, Va./Blue Ridge School) finished with 4 goals. Geier ended up with a hat trick, along with Smith scoring 2 of his own to go with 3 assists. Wiseman finished with 2 assists. Junior Paddy Colligan (Greenwich, Conn.) had 2 saves on the day and was credited with the win, and senior Carl Mazabras (New Canaan, Conn.) made 1 save.
