Wabash Rallies Past Men's Tennis

The Ohio Wesleyan doubles teams of senior José Mancilla (San Luis Potosi, Mexico/Tecnologico de Monterrey) and junior Mark Siriwanichkul (Bangkok, Thailand/St. Andrew International School) and junior Marcelo Aguilar (Columbus/Olentangy Liberty) and freshman Kobe Francis (Boca Raton, Fla./Spanish River) recorded wins to give the Bishops a 2-1 lead, but Wabash swept singles play and took a North Coast Athletic Conference match on Saturday at the Luttinger Family Tennis Center.

Aguilar and Francis posted an 8-6 win over Ethan Koeneman and Cole Shifferly at No. 2 doubles, and Mancilla and Siriwanichkul followed with an 8-6 win over Cole Borden and Liam Grennon at No. 1 doubles for a 2-1 Ohio Wesleyan lead.

In singles play, Siriwanichkul and Aguilar lost in tiebreakers.  Siriwanichkul won the first set, 6-0, over Alvaro Alonso-Sanchez at No. 1 singles, but Alonso-Sanchez won the second set, 7-5, then outlasted Siriwanichkul in a tiebreaker, 11-9.

At No. 3 singles, Aguilar won the first set in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (8-6), but Borden came back to win the second set, 6-0, and won a tiebreaker, 10-1.

Mancilla lost to Augusto Ghidini, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 4 singles, and Francis dropped a 6-4, 6-1 decision to Shifferly at No. 2 singles.
