Ohio Wesleyan at DePauw

Junior lefthander Katie Chittum (Hebron/Lakewood) fired 4.0 shutout innings and sophomore outfielder Alyssa Perkins (Fredericktown) delivered a 2-run single as Ohio Wesleyan built a 3-0 lead, but DePauw rallied for 5 runs in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead in Game 4 of the North Coast Athletic Conference tournament on Friday in Greencastle, Ind.

The game was halted after 5 innings because of darkness and will be resumed at 5 p.m. on Saturday.  The Ohio Wesleyan-DePauw winner will advance to the losers' bracket final to face Denison at 11 a.m. on Sunday.

Chittum allowed first-inning singles by Abby Pyburn and Katie Mathies, but bounced back to get out of the inning without any further damage.  Chittum also stranded 2 runners in the second and 2 in the fourth.

Meanwhile, the Bishops took the lead in the top of the fourth, loading the bases with walks to junior second baseman Sophia Cegledy (Pataskala/Bishop Hartley), junior shortstop Rylee Anspach (Dublin/Coffman), and junior outfielder Rylie Moore (Noblesville, Ind.).  Perkins greeted Tiger reliever Kersten Brayton by ripping a ball down the leftfield line, scoring Cegledy and Anspach, and sophomore first baseman Sophie Leohner (Columbus/Upper Arlington) followed with a single to score Moore.

The Tigers opened the bottom of the fifth with infield singles by Kelsey Bernhard and Pyburn, and Mathies reached on an error by Cegledy, allowing Bernhard to score.  Emily Timberman followed with a single up the middle, driving in 2 runs to tie the game, and an RBI double by Macey Cox plated the go-ahead run.
