Howell, James, Davis Win NCAC Crowns

Senior Peyton Howell (Canton/GlenOak), sophomore Aliisa James (Miamisburg/Dayton Christian), and freshman Emily Davis (Brimfield/Mogadore Field) won North Coast Athletic Conference titles during the second day of the NCAC championship meet, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday at the George Gauthier Track and Selby Stadium.

Wittenberg won the meet with 216 points to 149½ for Ohio Wesleyan.  Oberlin finished third with 135½ points, followed by DePauw (90), Wooster (87), Denison (84), and Kenyon (54).

Howell won the high jump by clearing 5-5¾.  It was Howell's third consecutive NCAC championship in the event.

James won the 400-meter hurdles in 1:03.79.  It was James' second all-conference citation in the event, following a second-place finish in 2022.

Davis won the discus with a throw of 129-4.

James also helped both Bishop relay teams win All-NCAC honors, teaming with freshman Coral Pierson (Powell/Olentangy Liberty), junior Addystin Lykins (Carey), and junior Liberty Brock (Zanesville/New Concord John Glenn) to finish second in the 400-meter relay, and combining with sophomore Katelyn Stapleton (Urbana/West Liberty Salem), junior Siarra Hoover (Frazeysburg/Newark Licking Valley), and Brock for a second-place finish in the 1600-meter relay.

All-NCAC honors also went to Pierson, who placed second in the 100-meter hurdles; senior Khloe Dubenion (Columbus/Academy), who was third in the hammer and added a fourth-place finish in the discus; and Brock, who finished third in the 400-meter dash and added a seventh-place finish in the 200-meter dash.

Other standouts for the Bishops included Lykins, who finished fourth in the 400-meter dash, sixth in the 200-meter dash, and eighth in the 100-meter dash; freshman McKenna Downing (Pleasant Hill/Newton Local), who placed fourth in the 1500-meter run and eighth in the 800-meter run; senior Madison Manns (Kenton/Bellefontaine Logan), who tied for fourth in the high jump; Stapleton, who was fifth in the 400-meter dash; senior Veronica Hardman (Blenheim, New Zealand/Ravenswood), who finished fifth in the triple jump; and senior Gabby Stefanka (Marion/Elgin), who placed sixth in the hammer.
