Ten Bishops, Softball Team Receive NFCA Honors

Ten Ohio Wesleyan University softball players received 2023 Division III Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, it was announced by the NFCA.

Junior Alyssa Back (Newark), junior Sara Bias (Sandusky/St. Mary's Central Catholic), junior Sophia Cegledy (Pataskala/Bishop Hartley), junior Katie Chittum (Hebron/Lakewood), sophomore Sydney Good (Westerville/Central), sophomore Sophia Holupka (Hillsboro, Mo.), freshman Makenna Knisley (Washington Court House/Washington), sophomore Lauren Kunzler (Lancaster), sophomore Avery Panozzo (Denver, Colo./Mullen), and sophomore McKenna Tuttle (Richmond, Ky./Model Laboratory School) were honored by the NFCA.

To receive Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors, one must have a grade-point average of 3.50 or higher for the current academic year.  A total of 1790 NCAA Division III student-athletes Division III All-America Scholar-Athlete recognition.

The Ohio Wesleyan softball team also was honored by the NFCA on its list of top team GPAs.  The Battling Bishops' team GPA of 3.56 tied for 50th place among the 125 NCAA Division III teams that compiled a GPA above 3.00.
