12th of 32 at All-Ohio championship
Freshman Zoe Ward (Columbus/Worthington Christian) led Ohio Wesleyan at the All-Ohio championship meet, hosted by Cedarville University on Friday in Cedarville.
Cedarville won the meet with 42 points to 43 for Akron. Walsh finished third with 118 points, followed by Wittenberg (138), John Carroll (162), Findlay (194), Case Reserve (220), Wright State (283), and Ohio Northern (287). Malone finished off the top 10 teams with 307 points, followed by The Ohio State running club (310), Ohio Wesleyan (338), Cleveland State (354), Ashland (436), Baldwin Wallace (448), Otterbein (486), Wooster (507), Ursuline (537), and Mount Vernon Nazarene (559). Lake Erie completed the top 20 teams with a score of 599, followed by Kenyon (608), Ohio Dominican (628), Heidelberg (652), Rio Grande (714), Bluffton (789), Wilmington (799), Wright State-Lake (804), Hiram (839), Dayton running club (849), and Central State (909). Capital and Marietta did not record team scores.
Ohio Wesleyan finished fifth among the 15 NCAA Division III teams in the race.
Hannah Rhem of Cedarville won the 6000-meter race in 21:14.0, finishing more than 22 seconds ahead of Akron's Mary Munga.
Ward finished 48th in 23:25.1, followed by freshman Sophie Cotts (Granville) in 49th place in 23:29.3.
Freshman Brianna Montgomery (Gibsonburg) placed 78th in 23:50.9, sophomore McKenna Downing (Pleasant Hill/Newton Local) was 100th in 24:18.1, and freshman Elsa Hoam (Fredericktown) completed the Ohio Wesleyan scoring with a 115th-place finish in 24:30.2.
Junior Eleanor Luttman (Farmington Hills, Mich./Farmington) was 116th in 24:32.7 and junior Ashley Beatty (Delaware/Buckeye Valley) finished 179th in 25:36.9.
