Ohio Wesleyan 3, Washington & Jefferson 0

Sophomore forward Mattison Hyland (Brodheadsville, Pa./Pleasant Valley) put Ohio Wesleyan ahead to stay and the Bishop defense turned in another sterling performance in a North Coast Athletic Conference win over Washington & Jefferson on Saturday in Washington, Pa.

The Bishops took the lead in the third minute.  Freshman forward Mary Powers (Centreville, Va./Chantilly) fired a shot that was stopped by W&J keeper Kaitlyn Wildermouth, but the ball remained in play until Hyland gained control in front and knocked it into the cage.

The Ohio Wesleyan defense took over from there, holding the Presidents without a shot during the contest.  It marked the third time in the last 4 outings that the Bishops have not allowed a shot, with Ohio Wesleyan yielding only one shot during that stretch.

Sophomore midfielder Grace Ammon (Southborough, Mass./Algonquin Regional) added a goal in the 50th minute, then set up a score by senior forward Colleen McMenamin (Chester, N.J./West Morris Regional) in the 53rd minute.

The Bishops outshot the Presidents, 22-0.  Senior Meg McCarthy (Trumbull, Conn.) recorded the shutout in the Bishop cage.
