Horton's Top-10 Finish Leads Bishops at OWU Invitational

Senior Wes Horton (Worthington/Thomas Worthington) turned in a top-10 finish to lead Ohio Wesleyan at the OWU Invitational, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan on Friday at Liberty Park in Powell.

Ashland was the top varsity intercollegiate finisher with 82 points, finishing 4 points behind Ohio State Running Club.  Case Reserve compiled 93 points, followed by Baldwin Wallace (115), Oberlin (175), Ohio Northern (181), Heidelberg (265), Otterbein (279), and Capital (287).  Denison was next with 291 points, followed by Findlay (305), Ohio Wesleyan (307), Wilmington (326), Ohio Dominican (348), Mount Vernon Nazarene (353), Rio Grande (42), Allegheny (424), Kenyon (486), Bluffton (529), Shawnee State (552), Hiram (632), and Wilberforce (697).  Lorain County Community College and Wittenberg did not compile team scores.

Nate Slater of Ashland won the race, finishing the 8000-meter course in 25:23.8 to finish 25 seconds ahead of Oberlin's Jonah Barber.

Horton placed 10th overall in 26:16.6.

Freshman Jacob Blubaugh (Columbus/Bishop Ready) was 62nd in 27:28.1, sophomore Perry Jackson (Springfield/New Carlisle Tecumseh) finished 80th in 27:42.4, senior Kory Kaiser (Cincinnati/West Clermont) placed 92nd in 27:53.7, and senior Preston Pethtel (Heath) completed the Ohio Wesleyan scoring with a 100th-place finish in 28:02.3.

Senior Simon Leck (Toledo/St. Francis DeSales) was 125th in 28:26.5 and freshman Adam Sinzinger (Delaware/Hayes) placed 169
th in 29:19.0.
