Women's Cross Country Takes Team Title at OWU Invitational

Sophomore Zoe Ward (Columbus/Worthington Christian) finished third among individuals and Ohio Wesleyan placed 5 runners among the top 15 individual finishers as the Bishops won the team title at the OWU Invitational, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan on Friday at Liberty Park in Powell.

Ohio Wesleyan won the team title with 44 points to 54 for Allegheny.  Case Reserve was next among varsity intercollegiate teams with 112 points, followed by Mount Vernon Nazarene (115), Baldwin Wallace (158), Ashland (160), Denison (210), and Oberlin (212).  Ohio Northern finished with 292 points, followed by Hiram (364), Ohio Dominican (372), Capital (382), Heidelberg (406), Wittenberg (424), Wilmington (480), and Wilberforce (560).  Bluffton, Findlay, Lorain County Community College, Otterbein, Shawnee State, and Wright State-Lake did not compile team scores.

Ashland's Lily Dowdell won the race, covering the 6000-meter course in 22:03.6 to finish nearly 16 seconds ahead of Findlay's Hailey Wilson and 18 seconds ahead of Ward.

Sophomore Allison Dietz (Newark) finished ninth in 22:48.3, and s
ophomore Sophie Cotts (Granville) was 10th in 22:54.4.

Junior McKenna Downing (Pleasant Hill/Newton Local) placed 14th in 22:57.9, and sophomore Elsa Hoam (Fredericktown) completed the Ohio Wesleyan scoring with a 15th-place finish in 22:58.0.

Sophomore Aicha Tounkara (Delaware/Hayes) placed 22nd in 23:31.8 and sophomore Brianna Montgomery (Gibsonburg) was 27th in 23:37.3
