T21st of 32 at CWRU Bob Del Rosa Ohio Intercollegiate Open

Senior Geoffrey Kaminski (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) and freshman Liam Hatgas (Parma Heights/Holy Name) placed for Ohio Wesleyan at the Bob Del Rosa Ohio Intercollegiate Open, hosted by Case Western Reserve University on Sunday in Cleveland.

Cleveland State won the Open bracket with 181½ points to 102½ for Indianapolis.  Ashland compiled 57 points, followed by Ithaca (52½), Lake Erie (49), Tiffin (43½), Gannon and John Carroll (38½), Case Reserve (36½), West Virginia (34), Glenville State (32½), Seton Hill (30), Midway (27), Edinboro (12½), Baldwin Wallace (9½), Ohio Wesleyan and Toledo (9), Mercyhurst (5), Rochester Institute of Technology (4), and Salem and Wheeling (3½).

Cleveland State won the freshman/sophomore bracket with 115 points to 78 for Ithaca.  Baldwin Wallace had 76 points, followed by Rochester Institute of Technology (75½), John Carroll (74), Indianapolis (68), Seton Hill (55), Ashland (33½), Gannon (33½), Case Reserve (30), Wheeling (24), Lake Erie (23), Ohio Wesleyan (20½), West Virginia (19), Defiance (16), Mercyhurst (10½), Midway (8½), Salem (5), Tiffin (1), Glenville State (½).

Kaminski placed fourth in the Open bracket, while Hatgas placed second in the freshman/sophomore bracket.

Wrestling at 285, Kaminski received a first-round bye before edging Aaron Garcia of Midway, 4-3, in a quarterfinal match.  In the semifinals, Kaminski fell to Dorian Crosby of Gannon, and in the third-place bout, Kaminski lost a 10-4 decision to Wyatt Bailey of Ashland.

At 141, Hatgas received a first-round bye, then posted a 10-4 decision over Joshiah Dedeaux of Indianapolis, then recorded back-to-back pins of Ithaca's Brandon Ribeiro and Defiance's Drew Matthews to move into the final.  In the championship match, Hatgas fell to Luke Mentzer of Gannon.

Sophomore Emmitt Holland (Wake Forest, N.C.) advanced at 149 in the freshman/sophomore bracket, recording a 16-1 technical fall over Cristian Cruz of Ithaca in the first round.
