Ammon Receives Special Award; 5 Bishops All-NCAC

Ohio Wesleyan University sophomore Grace Ammon (Southborough, Mass./Algonquin Regional) received a special award as part of the All-North Coast Athletic Conference field hockey teams, it was announced today by the NCAC.

Ammon was named NCAC Midfielder of the Year and was a first-team All-NCAC choice.

Ammon was joined on the All-NCAC first team by senior defender Ellie Conroy (Worthington/Thomas Worthington) and junior midfielder Alyssa Markell (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County).  Senior forward Colleen McMenamin (Chester, N.J./West Morris Regional) was a second-team All-NCAC pick, and sophomore forward Mattison Hyland (Brodheadsville, Pa./Pleasant Valley) was a third-team selection.

Ammon leads the NCAC in assists (9), is tied for ninth in points (19), and is tied for 15th in goals (5).  Ammon was a first-team all-conference choice for the second straight season and won NCAC Newcomer of the Year recognition in 2023.

Markell, a defensive midfielder, and Conroy anchor a Bishop defense that leads NCAA Division III teams with 13 shutouts on the season and has compiled a goals-against average of 0.943.  On the offensive end, Markell is tied for 11th in the NCAC with 6 goals on the season, and is tied for fifth in the league with 3 game-winning goals.  Markell was a first-team All-NCAC honoree in 2023, while Conroy won a third-team citation a year ago.

McMenamin leads the Bishops and is tied for seventh in the NCAC in goals (9) and is tied for ninth in points (19).

Hyland ranks 10th in the NCAC in goals (8), is tied for sixth in assists (4), and leads the Bishops and is tied for seventh in the NCAC in points (20).

Ohio Wesleyan enters the NCAA Division III tournament with a 17-4 record.  The Bishops shared the NCAC championship with a 9-1 record, Ohio Wesleyan's second consecutive conference crown, and won the NCAC tournament, the Bishops' third tournament title in 4 years.
