Junior midfielder Alyssa Markell (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County) scored the game-winning goal in overtime to give Ohio Wesleyan a North Coast Athletic Conference win over Wooster on Saturday in Wooster.

The Ohio Wesleyan win, combined with Denison's 5-0 win over Washington & Jefferson, splits the NCAC championship between Ohio Wesleyan and Denison, each with a 9-1 record in conference play.  The title is the second in a row and the third in the last 5 seasons for the Bishops.  Ohio Wesleyan will be the No. 1 seed in next week's NCAC tournament and will host fourth-seeded DePauw in a tournament semifinal matchup at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Selby Stadium.

Wooster had the first scoring chance by earning a penalty corner less than 2 minutes into the game, but the Bishop defense held the Fighting Scots without a shot.

From there, it was all Ohio Wesleyan.  The Bishops outshot the Scots, 43-1, and built a 19-0 edge in corners during the final 58 minutes of regulation time, but the Wooster defense kept the visitors out of the cage, with Fighting Scot keeper Cate Barkdoll credited with 20 saves and defender Joey Beckerman adding a defensive save.

Senior goalkeeper Meg McCarthy (Trumbull, Conn.) preserved the scoreless tie, stopping a shot by Audrey McKenna with just over 5 minutes remaining in regulation time.

The Bishops turned up the pressure during the final minutes of regulation, earning 5 corners during the final 2-plus minutes, but Barkdoll turned away one shot and the Scot defense blocked another.

Just over 3 minutes into overtime, Markell fired a shot from the left wing into the lower right corner of the Wooster cage.

Ohio Wesleyan outshot Wooster, 44-1.  McCarthy had 1 save in posting the shutout.
