Perry, Bodovetz Place at BW Invitational

Senior Des Perry (Garnet Valley, Pa.) and senior Tyler Bodovetz (Steetsboro) placed for Ohio Wesleyan at the BW Invitational, hosted by Baldwin Wallace University on Saturday in Berea, Ohio.

Baldwin Wallace won the meet with 187½ points to 138 for Manchester.  Lourdes finished third with 130 points, followed by Case Reserve and West Liberty (126½), Trine (89), Mount St. Joseph and Thiel (85), Delaware Valley (51½), Ohio Wesleyan (44), Adrian (41½), and Muskingum (35).

Perry placed fifth in the 184-pound bracket.  After receiving a first-round bye, Perry recorded a 17-0 technical fall over Luke Dwyer of Manchester.  In a quarterfinal matchup, Perry pinned Ryland Ernest of Adrian, and in a semifinal Perry lost a 19-4 technical fall to William Speight of Lourdes.  In a consolation semifinal, Perry lost a 14-12 decision to Trenton DiGenova of Adrian, and in the fifth-place match, Perry pinned Rugby Meza of Muskingum.

Bodovetz placed sixth in the 174-pound bracket.  Bodovetz lost a 19-13 decision to David Cox of Manchester in the first round, but stormed through the consolation bracket with 5 straight wins, pinning Kwest Thomas of Mount St. Joseph, defeating Dominic Hartman of Thiel in a 17-0 technical fall, pinning Nayl Sbay of Trine, winning a 19-4 technical fall over Matthew Hamad of Baldwin Wallace, and winning a 9-0 major decision over Louka Babic of Case Western Reserve.  The last matchup was Bodovetz's sixth of the day, and he could not compete in the consolation semifinal or the fifth-place match.

Senior Geoffrey Kaminski (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) advanced to the quarterfinals of the championship bracket at 285, receiving a first-round bye and then pinning Robert Garrett of Manchester.  After falling to Ty Cobb of Lourdes in the quarterfinals, Kaminsky fell to Randall Wilson of Mount St. Joseph in the consolation bracket.
