Strange, Fincham Place in NCAC Heptathlon

Freshman Michael Strange (High Bridge, N.J./Voorhees) and sophomore Mack Fincham (Springfield/Kenton Ridge) scored for Ohio Wesleyan during the second day of the North Coast Athletic Conference heptathlon competition, hosted by Kenyon College on Sunday in Gambier.

Strange finished in fourth place with a total of 4172 points, while Fincham placed seventh with 3965 points.

Strange had the third-best time in the 60-meter hurdles with an :08.90, fifth in the 1000-meter run in 3:01.35, and ninth in the pole vault with a mark of 10-11.  On Saturday, Strange opened the meet by clocking a :07.19 in the 60-meter dash, the best time of the day.  Strange's throw of 34-3 in the shot put was fourth overall, and marks of 18-11¼ in the long jump and 5-2¼ in the high jump each ranked eighth.

Fincham was fourth overall in the 60-meter hurdles in :08.94, fourth in the pole vault with a height of 12-10¾, and 10th in the 1000-meter run in 3:20.41.  Fincham finished Saturday with the third-best performance in the high jump, clearing 5-10½.  Fincham ranked sixth with a 31-10½ in the shot put, 11th with a :07.75 in the 60-meter dash, and 13th with a 16-10½ in the long jump.

The 7 points scored by Strange and Fincham will carry over to the NCAC championship meet on Friday and Saturday.
