at NCAC championship
Sophomore Ryan Tripp (Sunbury/Big Walnut) posted Ohio Wesleyan's best individual finish during the first day of the North Coast Athletic Conference championship meet, hosted by Kenyon College on Friday in Gambier.
Denison was leading the meet with 37 points to 34 for Wittenberg. Wabash was in third place with 32 points, followed by Wooster (23), Kenyon and Oberlin (20), Ohio Wesleyan (15), DePauw (14), and Hiram (0).
Tripp finished fourth in the long jump.
The Ohio Wesleyan distance medley relay team of sophomore Benjamin Blaumeiser (Kettering/Fairmont), junior Mason Myers (Perrysville/Hillsdale), junior Wes Horton (Columbus/Thomas Worthington), and junior Preston Pethtel (Heath) finished sixth.
In preliminary action, freshman Dylan Harper (Marysville) won a heat of the 60-meter hurdles in :08.51.
The NCAC championship is scheduled to conclude on Saturday.
