7th of 9 at NCAC championship
Sophomore Ryan Tripp (Sunbury/Big Walnut), freshman Connor Smith (Marysville), freshman Alex Bzdafka (Solon), freshman Dylan Harper (Marysville), and junior Wes Horton (Columbus/Thomas Worthington) won All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors during the second day of the NCAC championship meet, hosted by Kenyon College on Saturday in Gambier.
Wittenberg won the meet with 130 points to 114 for Wabash. Oberlin finished third with 103 points, followed by Wooster (90), Denison (87), DePauw (64), Ohio Wesleyan (60), Kenyon (48), and Hiram (6).
Tripp finished second in the high jump.
Smith placed third in the high jump.
Bzdafka was third in the pole vault.
Harper finished third in the 60-meter hurdles.
Horton placed third in the 800-meter run.
Other standouts for the Bishops included sophomore Benjamin Blaumeiser (Kettering/Fairmont), who was fifth in the mile run; and sophomore Mack Fincham (Springfield/Kenton Ridge), who placed eighth in the 60-meter hurdles.
The Ohio Wesleyan 1600-meter relay team of junior Mason Myers (Perrysville/Hillsdale), Blaumeiser, Smith, and senior Jacob Bauer (Hilliard/Davidson) finished fifth, while the 800-meter relay team of Smith, senior Zach Donley (Columbus/West Lafayette Ridgewood), senior Dylan Liggett (Medina/Highland), and sophomore Joaquim Bila (Westbrook, Maine/North Yarmouth Academy) was eighth.
