Box Score
Ohio Wesleyan 17, Capital 8

Senior attacker Nicole Klabus (Delaware/Hayes) had a goal and an assist during a game-opening 3-0 burst and freshman attacker Brie Colangelo (Providence, R.I./Moses Brown School) added 4 goals during a second-quarter 6-0 run that helped Ohio Wesleyan to a non-conference win over Capital on Wednesday at Selby Stadium.

The Comets had compiled 62 goals on the season heading into the contest, with that figure ranking third among NCAA Division III schools, but it was the Bishops that jumped to an early lead, with Klabus finding junior attacker Casey Conklin (Marcellus, N.Y.) for a goal just over a minute into the action.  Junior attacker Caroline Fleming (Pittsburgh, Pa./South Fayette) scored exactly 3 minutes into the contest, and Klabus followed with a goal less than a minute later for a 3-0 Ohio Wesleyan lead.

Capital's Grace Osborn, who entered the game leading NCAA Division III players with 27 goals and 35 points, set up Andi Henry for a goal to put the Comets on the scoreboard, then scored later in the period to bring the visitors within 3-2.

Colangelo scored a pair of goals less than a minute apart early in the second quarter, the latter set up by Klabus, who then followed with a score to increase the margin to 6-2.  After sophomore midfielder Tiffany Trinh (Dublin/Scioto) added a goal, Colangelo again tallied twice in short order, this time just 32 seconds apart, for a 9-2 Ohio Wesleyan lead.

Osborn closed out the first-half scoring and opened the second half with a goal, but 9-4 was as close as the Comets would come.

Klabus finished with 4 goals and 2 assists, while Colangelo scored a team-high 5 goals.  Trinh and senior midfielder Sophia DelGallo (Braintree, Mass.) added 3 goals apiece, and Fleming had a goal and an assist, the latter marking the 100th career point for the Bishop junior.  Junior Abby Markowitz (Las Vegas, Nev./Somerset Academy) recorded 12 saves, with 8 of those coming during the fourth quarter.
