Sophomore midfielder Tiffany Trinh (Dublin/Scioto) converted an 8-meter shot to tie the game at 10 with less than a minute to play in regulation time, but Plymouth State got the game-winner in the final seconds to grab a non-conference win on Tuesday in Panama City Beach, Fla.
Trinh's goal knotted the score at 10, but Plymouth State's Jenna Stowell controlled the ensuing draw, and with the clock winding down, split a pair of Bishop defenders and scored the go-ahead goal with :08 left. The Panthers then won the draw and ran out the clock.
The Bishops trailed, 8-4, late in the third quarter when Trinh and senior attacker Nicole Klabus (Delaware/Hayes) scored goals 42 seconds apart and senior midfielder Sophia DelGallo (Braintree, Mass.) followed with a score just over a minute later to make it an 8-7 game heading into the fourth period.
Junior attacker Casey Conklin (Marcellus, N.Y.) evened the game at 8 early in the fourth quarter, and junior midfielder Amara Carlson (Dublin/Coffman) gave the Bishops the lead with a goal at the 9:41 mark.
The Panthers retook the lead on 8-meter goals by Morgan Cunningham and Elle Moshier, the latter with 3:23 to go, before Trinh tied the tilt at 10.
Klabus led the Bishops with 2 goals and 2 assists, whil Trinh had 2 goals and an assist, and DelGallo scored 2 goals. Junior Abby Markowitz (Las Vegas, Nev./Somerset Academy) played in the Bishop goal during the first half and freshman Grace Lilly (Granville) made 4 saves during the second half.
