Fifth-year shortstop D.J. Neff (Grove City) doubled home the go-ahead run during a 3-run seventh inning that lifted Ohio Wesleyan over North Central on Wednesday in Port Charlotte, Fla.

The win was the 300th career victory for Ohio Wesleyan head coach Tyler Mott.  Mott is 300-309-1 (.493) in 17 seasons as head coach of the Battling Bishops.

North Central jumped to an early lead in the top of the first when Nolan King singled with one out, stole second, and scored on a single by Michael Davis.

Ohio Wesleyan answered in the bottom of the inning as sophomore outfielder Jack Bates (Westerville/South) led off with a single, junior second baseman Ryan Duckworth (Hilliard/Bradley) drew a 2-out walk, and senior outfielder Edrick Padilla (Salinas, P.R./Perkiomen (Pa.) School) singled in Bates.

Sophomore catcher Carson Fox (Van Wert/Lincolnview) led off the bottom of the seventh with an infield single, and one out later, moved to third when Cardinal pitcher Luke Shepski threw wildly on a pickoff attempt.  Neff followed with a double to center, scoring Fox, and junior outfielder Sammy Stoner (Dublin/Jerome) greeted reliever Ryan Gerdes with a double to center to plate Neff.  Duckworth followed with an infield single, sending Stoner to third, and Padilla knocked in Stoner with an infield out to provide an insurance run.

Duckworth and Fox each went 2-for-3 for the Bishops, while Neff, Padilla, and sophomore first baseman Zane Vitense (Maple Grove, Minn.) were 2-for-4 on the day.

Freshman lefthander Robert Martin (South Webster) worked the first 6.0 innings, striking out 6 and walking none.  Junior righthander Joe Liss (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) worked a scoreless seventh to pick up the win, and sophomore righthander Mikey Olivieri (Jackson Township/Jackson) finished up for his second save of the season.
