Fifth-year shortstop D.J. Neff (Grove City) singled in a run to put the Bishops on the scoreboard in the opener of a North Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader against DePauw on Saturday in Greencastle, Ind.

In the nightcap, Neff delivered a 2-run single to highlight a 3-run seventh inning, but the Tigers went on to complete the sweep.

The Tigers struck for 5 runs in the second inning of the opener, getting RBI singles from Louis Florida and Grady Johnson during the frame, and added 2 more runs in the fifth with the help of an RBI single by Jack Murray.

Ohio Wesleyan rallied in the eighth as freshman third baseman Michael Malone (Carroll/Bloom-Carroll) led off with a walk, moved to second on a sacrifice, took third on a single by junior outfielder Sammy Stoner (Dublin/Jerome), and scored on Neff's single.  Senior outfielder Edrick Padilla (Salinas, P.R./Perkiomen (Pa.) School) followed with an infield out to score Stoner to make it 7-2.

Sophomore catcher Blake Pettitt (Hilliard/Davidson) plated a run with a sacrifice fly in the ninth.

Malone was 2-for-3 for Ohio Wesleyan.  Sophomore righthander Hank Holman (Twinsburg) was the starting and losing pitcher for the Bishops.

Florida put the Tigers ahead with a solo homer in the second inning of the nightcap, and the hosts added 2 more runs in the fifth with the help of Ty Sucher's RBI single.  DePauw scored 5 times in the sixth, highlighted by Sucher's 2-run single, to move to an 8-0 lead.

The Bishops loaded the bases in the seventh on a single by sophomore first baseman Zane Vitense (Maple Grove, Minn.), a walk to Malone, and a single by Stoner before Vitense scored on a wild pitch and Neff singled home 2 runs.

DePauw added 5 runs in the eighth, with Carter Knoll drawing a bases-loaded walk and Max Bond following with a walk-off grand slam.

Vitense was 3-for-4 for the Bishops, and Stoner went 2-for-3.  Freshman lefthander Robert Martin (South Webster) was the starting and losing pitcher for Ohio Wesleyan.
