Sophomore midfielder Garrett Smith (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) scored 2 goals, and junior attacker Spencer Amacher (Blacksburg, Va./Blue Ridge School) and junior midfielder Joey Weisman (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) each scored one during a 4-0 second-quarter run as the Bishops pulled away for a North Coast Athletic Conference win over Kenyon on Saturday at Selby Stadium.
A pair of Kenyon goals had the Bishops playing catch-up early in the game, but junior midfielder Brady Hunt (Maineville/Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy), freshman midfielder Henry Ross (Snoqualmie, Wash./Mount Si) evened it out at 2-2. Amacher added a third for the Bishops at 1:47, but with 0:04 left in the first Kenyon's Chase MacCartee tied things up.
The Owls attempted to close the gap, scoring twice in the third quarter, but Smith answered with 2 goals and Amacher added another to double the Owls, 10-5. Kenyon's David Chintala netted one at 0:24, which spurred the first 2 goals for the visitors in the fourth.
Junior midfielder Brady Hunt (Maineville/Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy) scored one at 7:45 which Amacher followed quickly with a goal at 6:11. The Owls added 2 more but a final goal from Amacher and an own goal sealed the win.
Smith led the Bishops with 5 goals and Amacher had 4, while Hunt scored once and added 3 assists. Junior Nathan George (Gainesville, Va./Battlefield) finished with 11 saves between the pipes.
