4th of 12 at All-Ohio championship
Junior Trey Theobald (Archbold) and freshman Connor Smith (Marysville) won All-Ohio titles to lead Ohio Wesleyan during the second day of the All-Ohio championship meet, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday at Selby Stadium and the George Gauthier Track.
Otterbein won the meet with 138½ points to 97½ for Case Reserve. Oberlin finished third with 96 points, followed by Ohio Wesleyan (78), Ohio Northern (70), Denison (63), Muskingum (62), Marietta (49), Wooster (44), Kenyon (40), John Carroll (26), and Defiance (15).
Theobald won the javelin with a throw of 179-3.
Smith won the high jump, clearing 6-5½.
Sophomore Benjamin Blaumeiser (Kettering/Fairmont) also received All-Ohio honors with a second-place finish in the 800-meter run. Blaumeiser also placed fourth in the 1500-meter run.
Other standouts for the Bishops included junior Coleman Kegler (Columbus/Upper Arlington), who placed fourth in the javelin; freshman Dylan Harper (Marysville), who was fourth in the 110-meter hurdles; senior Antonio Sonego (Medina), who placed fourth in the discus; freshman Joel Adade (Columbus/Beechcroft), who finished fifth in the 100-meter dash and seventh in the 200-meter dash; junior Wes Horton (Columbus/Thomas Worthington), who placed fifth in the 800-meter run; sophomore Ryan Tripp (Sunbury/Big Walnut), who was sixth in the high jump and seventh in the long jump; sophomore Mack Fincham (Springfield/Kenton Ridge), who finished sixth in the 110-meter hurdles; freshman Michael Strange (High Bridge, N.J./Voorhees), who was eighth in the 100-meter dash; freshman Lucas Weaver (Galion/Northmor), who finished eighth in the 1500-meter run; and freshman Alex Bzdafka (Solon), who placed eighth in the pole vault.
The Bishop 1600-meter relay team of junior Mason Myers (Perrysville/Hillsdale), freshman Alex Stoller (Waverly), sophomore Jake Marzulli (Medina), and senior Jacob Bauer (Hilliard/Davidson) finished fourth, while the 400-meter relay team of Adade, Smith, senior Dylan Liggett (Medina/Highland), and Strange was fifth.
