Senior attacker Nicole Klabus (Delaware/Hayes) started the scoring during the first quarter as Ohio Wesleyan raced to a 5-1 lead after an early DePauw goal, and the Bishops kept the momentum going as they went on to win 14-6 on Saturday in Delaware at Jay Martin Soccer Complex.
DePauw's Emily Napier put the Tigers on the scoreboard with a goal at the 12:26 mark but a pair of goals from Klabus, junior attacker Caroline Fleming (Pittsburgh, Pa./South Fayette) and one from senior midfielder Sophia DelGallo (Braintree, Mass.) gave the Bishops a lead going into the second.
Klabus added her third goal to start the second period as Ohio Wesleyan went on to trade goals back and forth with DePauw. The Tigers' Napier and Caleigh Claar scored one each while DelGallo scored another for the Bishops to go into the half up 7-3.
DelGallo kicked off the second half strong with two quick goals at 13:56 and 12:13 which started a run for the Bishops with a goal each for sophomore midfielder Sam Frary (Concord, Calif./Clayton Valley Charter) and Fleming. DePauw got 2 back but Fleming set up junior attacker Casey Conklin (Marcellus, N.Y.), who tallied a goal to give the Bishops a 12-5 lead with one period left to play.
Sophomore midfielder Tiffany Trinh (Dublin/Scioto) opened the final period and made it 13-5 off an assist from DelGallo. Napier was able to get one more for the visiting Tigers, but Klabus scored one more at 6:25 to cement the win for the Bishops.
The Bishops won 15 draw controls and were a perfect 22-22 on clears during the match. They outshot the Tigers 31-17.
DelGallo and Klabus led the Bishops with 4 goals apiece. Fleming finished with 3 goals and 2 assists. Frary, Trinh, and Conklin each had a goal in the win. Junior Abby Markowitz (Las Vegas, Nev./Somerset Academy) made 7 saves.
